Trimscope (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Remodelr, a renovation planning platform that helps homeowners and contractors organize renovation projects, selections, budgets, tasks, change orders, photos, contacts, and related project decisions. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use Remodelr.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly to Remodelr, including account information, profile details, project information, renovation selections, product links, notes, approval decisions, comments, invite information, contractor collaboration records, billing-related identifiers, and other content you choose to add to the platform.
Examples may include:
- Name, email address, and account details
- Homeowner or contractor profile information
- Project names, budgets, rooms, timelines, and notes
- Product selections, prices, links, photos, and delivery dates
- Approval, rejection, and change request activity
- Invite email addresses and collaboration access records
- Leads, estimates, and inquiry messages you submit
- Billing customer IDs and subscription status from Stripe
- Optional AI provider API keys you choose to store for BYOK features
2. Information collected automatically
When you use Remodelr, certain technical information may be collected automatically. This may include log data, browser type, device information, IP address, authentication session details, pages viewed, and usage activity necessary to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service. We may use analytics tools such as PostHog to understand product usage in aggregate.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide and improve Remodelr, create and manage user accounts, organize renovation projects, enable homeowner–contractor collaboration, process approvals, manage billing, deliver transactional emails, provide customer support, monitor system performance, prevent misuse, and maintain the security and reliability of the platform.
Depending on the message, we may email you from notifications@trimscope.com (account and project alerts), reminders@trimscope.com (maintenance reminders), or support@trimscope.com (onboarding and support-related messages).
4. Project collaboration
Remodelr is designed for collaboration. If you invite a contractor or share a project, that person may be able to view project information, selections, notes, approvals, files, and other content associated with that project according to their access level. You are responsible for inviting the correct people and sharing only information you are authorized to share.
5. Payment processing
We use Stripe for payment processing, checkout, billing management, and subscription status updates. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers. Stripe may collect and process payment information according to Stripe's own terms and privacy practices.
6. Service providers and infrastructure
We use trusted third-party service providers to operate Remodelr, including hosting, authentication (Clerk), database storage (Appwrite), payment processing (Stripe), email delivery and automation (including n8n), analytics (PostHog), and related infrastructure. These providers may process information only as needed to help us provide the service.
7. AI features and third-party models
If you use AI-powered suggestions and provide your own API keys, those keys are stored so we can send relevant project context to the AI provider you choose. AI outputs are generated by third-party services and may be inaccurate. Do not submit sensitive personal information you do not want processed by an AI provider.
8. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information when necessary to operate the service, process payments, comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, protect rights and safety, prevent fraud or abuse, or complete a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
9. Data retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the service, maintain business records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and support security and operational needs. You may contact us to request deletion of certain account or project information.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security, and users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials.
11. Your choices
You may access, update, or delete certain account and project information through Remodelr. You may also contact us to request help with account access, corrections, deletion requests, or privacy questions.
12. Children's privacy
Remodelr is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify users by updating the date on this page or by other reasonable means.
